Recipe: Lean Turkey Burgers

I found this recipe while skimming Competitor, a fitness magazine that primarily focuses on running. My day to day meals look and taste the same and while I love routine, my taste buds have been screaming for something other than chicken and veggies.

Lean Turkey Burgers


4 white button mushrooms
1 medium zucchini
1/3 cup minced sweet onion
2 Tbsp. chopped flat-leaf parsley
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1 1/4 pounds 99 percent lean ground turkey breast
Cooking spray


Using a box grater, finely grate mushrooms and zucchini into a large bowl. Add minced onion, parsley, salt and pepper, and gently mix in turkey until mixture is uniform. Form into patties. Lightly coat a large nonstick pan with cooking spray and heat over medium flame. When hot, add turkey pat ties and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side or until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.

Per Serving: 177 calories, 1g fat, 3g carbohydrates, 1g dietary fiber, 35g protein
